Jacob Wiley is the latest to join the Patriots roster

Plymouth City Patriots is delighted to announce the signing of American forward Jacob Wiley

With the British Basketball League less than one month away, the Plymouth City Patriots have unveiled their newest signing.

Jacob Wiley, a 25 year old forward, hailing from Houston, Texas is the most recent player to be added to the ranks for the forthcoming season. Wiley, standing at 6 foot 7, spent four years in the NCAA D1 representing The University of Illinois at Chicago where he was a CIT Finalist, before transferring to Marian College in the NAIA D2.

Wiley has some European experience, playing last season in Greece. He represented two different teams in the Greece-Elite League for the 2022/23 season, playing half the season for GD Ermis Shimatariou before accepting a move to NE Megaridas. He moved into their starting five and had an immediate impact, averaging 12 points and 5.1 rebounds per game helping Megaridas climb the league table and become playoff contenders. However, Wiley and his squad would narrowly miss out on the playoffs by points difference, after creating a three way tie for the eighth spot.

Head coach Paul James can't wait to introduce Wiley to the Patriots squad this season, saying "Jacob comes highly recommended and has a wealth of experience from playing in college." He continued, "the way he performed in Greece was impressive, he has size and rebounding ability, so he'll be another great signing for the team."

Jacob Wiley is the most recent addition in a number of signings made by the Plymouth City Patriots ahead of the 2023/24 BBL season. With the season set to tip off next month the Patriots will be in action on the 15th September, when they take on their South West rivals, the Bristol Flyers, at the SGS College Arena in Bristol.
