Jules Dang-Akodo is back for another season

The Plymouth City Patriots have once again secured the services of Jules Dang-Akodo for the 2023/24 British Basketball League season, after becoming a fan favourite and impressing in Pavilions last season.

Dang-Akodo, a 27 year old dual national point guard, originally born in Yaounde, Cameroon, has experienced twelve full seasons as a professional, including spells in Slovenia, Germany and Spain, the latter of which was for San Pablo Burgos, one of the top teams in the LEB Gold, ACB and Basketball Champions League. Along with his current teammate Elvisi Dusha, he played an important role in the London City Royals BBL Trophy win in 2019 and the two will be united once more for the coming BBL season.

Dang Akodo made an immediate impact for the Patriots after signing late in the season. His tenacious brand of defence and 35% outside shooting percentage make him a great signing for the Plymouth side and give a solid foundation to the team ahead of the new season. His work ethic saw him break into the starting lineup after just a handful of games and he was most definitely a positive influence on the court.

Dang Akodo was thrilled at the prospect of returning to the south west, saying Im grateful to be back with the patriots, I think it will be an exciting season for us. Im looking forward to it.” His coach Paul James was also upbeat after the announcement, saying, Jules is just a fantastic competitor and the kind of warrior our team needs moving forward. His partnership with Elvisi is something that has developed over a number of seasons and they compliment each other very well.” James continued, he gives us plenty of different options offensively, but more importantly the level of defence and consistency he brings to us is invaluable.”
