Patriots partner with Truro College and Cornwall Saracens

Head Coach Paul James spoke about the clubs new Partnership with Truro College:

We were delighted to host Truro & Penwith college and their U18 Saracen basketball team to Plymouth Marjon University for this basketball specific open day.

This is the first time this has been done at the University in partnership with the Plymouth City Patriots basketball team. The day was a real success with the students getting the opportunity to take a tour of the university campus as well as speak to lecturers about a range of subjects available to them.

The students had the opportunity to see the Plymouth City Patriots professional team hard at work in the Gym and on court followed by a team session run by my assistant coach Will Hopper and me.

Creating this partnership will offer student athletes a great opportunity to progress their basketball to a high level and potentially a professional player, whilst being able to get a good education at the same time.

We look forward to working closer with Truro & Penwith College and Cornwall Saracens in the coming months on a verity of basketball initiatives in the future.

Players from our U18 team recently visited Marjon University and Plymouth Patriots Basketball club. The trip involved a look around the university, a meet and greet with the players and to watch them train, plus a training session with Plymouth Patriots coaches - Paul James and Will Hopper.  Creating a partnership with Marjon University and Plymouth Patriots will allow Saracen players to progress through the age groups into the basketball academy at Truro College and into a high performance basketball environment whilst studying at university. The partnership between ourselves and Plymouth Patriots will also involve performance camps and watching BBL matches.
